The race season is here

This weekend saw the first of the ITU World Championship Series races take place in Abu Dhabi. Mario Mola and Gwen Jorgenson showed some phenomenal running form to take top spot on the podium in the first race of the year.

Abu Dhabi was a pancake flat course with a dead calm swim. Next up the series moves on to Auckland, NZ. Here the water can be anything but dead calm (just ask Sarah or Amanda who competed in the ITU World Championships in Auckland a few years back) and the bike course is the toughest on the circuit so I expect to see a very different race.

Our own race season also kicks of this quarter with the LFTC Aquathlon at the end of this month and our first three London Triathlon League races. On the 19th of April we have the Kingfisher Aquathlon, on the 10th of May 2015 we have the Crystal Palace Triathlon and on the 14th of June 2015 we have the Jetstream at MTS sprint distance triathlon. If you want to don the LFTC strip and race for the team then make sure get your entries in early for the Kingfisher Aquathlon and Jetstream at MTS. The Crystal Palace Triathlon sold out within hours!

To help you prepare for your races get down to the Monday night session at the Velo Park with Coach Rohan dishing out some race specific bricks and race skills sessions. It is a fantastic venue where you can blast around the outdoor circuit without having to worry about cars or potholes!

See you in the weekend, Tim (LFTC Coach).

  1. Thames Turbo is a London League event but it is not one that the club is targeting as a team this year. By all means sign up and race to gain London League points as an individual though.
